The steam bath strengthens the immune system just as a visit to the sauna does. Unlike the sauna, though, the steam bath is usually constructed of solid stone rather than wood.

The air temperature in the steam bath is 45° C with a humidity of 100%. The steam is fed in continuously through jets. Because the temperature in the room is higher than the skin temperature, more perspiration is produced.

Adjacent to the steam bath is a cooling-off section with cold-water appliances for dissipating the heat that has been built up. A visit to the steam bath loosens the muscles and improves one’s general sense of well-being.
